Welcome to the second half of the school year! Your PTA supports the school not just through meetings and discussions, but more meaningfully through its yearly donation of $12,000 to the school. This year’s donation is in jeopardy! The PTA’s most lucrative fundraiser, Ice Cream Sales, has been dramatically reduced due to regulations. Since sales are reduced to once a month from twice a week as you can imagine a great SHORTFALL.

In order to make up this budget shortfall we ask that you support your PTA through a donation of $75 per family that will go toward supporting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) programs, all afterschool activities, clubs, sports, and student newspaper.

BONUS!! Anyone contributing to the membership drive by March 31st will be placed in a drawing for:

  • One of Two Certificates for group lessons valued at $250 at Top Prep, Great Neck
  • One of Three Certificates for two hours of one on one lessons at Top Prep, Great Neck for any subject!

Please return your donation addressed to the PTA. Checks should be made out to MS67 PTA. All contributions in any amount received in the PTA inbox by March 31st will be placed in the drawing.

Thank you to TOP Prep for supporting the PTA’s membership drive with their generous donation.

PTA Campaña De Primavera Para Recaudar Fondos 2018-2019

Cheques deben estar dirigidos a “MS67 PTA”. Todas las contribuciones recibidas en el buzón antes del 31 de Marzo serán incluidas en la rifa.

¡Mandemos nuestras contribuciones para llegar a la meta de $12,000 para el colegio!

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to fund the after school activities, clubs, teams, school news paper, Elevate Education.

If we could have at least 50% of our families (450 families) to donate $25 each then we could make this happen!  Please encourage 5 people in you circle to give as part of our Spring Membership Drive.  “It takes a village!”

Practice ELA Test Session

The school will be conducting an ELA Practice Test for the New York State Standardized English Language Arts Exam for students in all grades on Thursday, March 28 @ 2:30-4:30PM.

Permission slips are due March 11, 2019 to your child’s ELA teacher and can be found HERE.

State Exam Information

The New York State English Language Arts Exam will be administered on the following days to all grades:  Tuesday, April 2, 2019 and Wednesday, April 3, 2019

The New York State Mathematics Exam will be administered on the following days to all grades (except the following Regents classes – 722, 723, 820, 821, 822, 823, 824, 826):  Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and Thursday, May 2, 2019

The State Education Department revised their electronics policy on New York State Exams. It is as follows: All students are prohibited from bringing cell phones and certain other electronic devices into a classroom or other location where a State test is being administered. Test proctors and school officials shall retain the right to collect and hold any prohibited electronic devices prior to the start of the test administration.

Such devices include, but are not limited to:
• Cell phones
• Blackberry devices and other PDAs
• iPods and MP3 players
• iPads, tablets, and other eReaders
• Laptops, notebooks, or any other personal computing devices
• Cameras or other photographic equipment
• Headphones, headsets, or in-ear headphones, such as earbuds
• Any other device capable of recording audio, photographic or video content, or capable of viewing or playing back such content.

Any student observed with any prohibited device while taking a State test will be directed to turn it over to the proctor or monitor immediately. The incident will be reported promptly to the school principal. If the principal determines that the student had a prohibited device in his or her possession during the test administration, the student’s test must be invalidated. No score may be calculated for that student. Please make sure that your child understands this electronic policy on New York State Exams.

Additionally, NYS ELA and Math exams will still be untimed this year once again. The state still recommends that students will need approximately 90 minutes to finish the exam. Scheduling will be done with that taken into account. If a child needs more than the recommended time, he/she will be given the time needed. Due to the scheduling and logistics, the grade 6 lunch period will be moved to period 7. Since this is later than usual, 6th graders will be allowed to eat a snack the beginning of period 5 in their assigned classroom.

Learning Environment Survey (the Green Envelope)

Your child will be bringing home the annual Learning Environment survey.  The feedback from this survey will help us to make improvements to our school.  The results will also contribute to our school’s annual Progress Report Grade.  It takes only a few minutes to complete this survey.  It can be completed online or in the paper form.  We urge you to complete this survey.  The paper survey can be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher.  If you choose to complete the survey online, please print out a confirmation and have your child give it to his/her homeroom teacher.  The first class from each grade that brings in 100% of the surveys will receive a donut party.

The survey needs to be completed no later than April 3, 2019.

Online survey is available HERE.  (Note: You will need the access code printed on the form your child brings home.)
